Complete the following Tinkercad tutorials: Learning the moves, Camera controls, Creating holes, and Scale, Copy & Paste.
Create a prototype sketch of your ornament. Watch the video of Mrs. Matzat's tips for printing in 3D.
Design your ornament on Tinkercad. It should be able to fit in the palm of your hand. Don't forget to include a way to hang it on the tree.
Show your finished to design to Mrs. Matzat to submit for approval to print.
Using the materials found in The Makery, can you build a watercraft powered by Sphero to carry a load of 10-20 pennies?
Think of an idea for a penny-carrying contraption and draw your idea on a piece of paper. Crazy and weird ideas are encouraged!. It can be tricky to build a Sphero-powered watercraft because Sphero is partially underwater when it swims.
Determine what materials you will need to create your contraption.
Time to build and test. Test frequently while you are building, so you can make changes to your design as needed.
Demonstrate your finished creation to Mrs. Matzat.
Write your reflections on this activity and discuss with the class.
What worked and what didn’t?
How would you do things differently in the future?
What happened the first time you tested your watercraft?
How did your watercraft change from the initial design?
What materials worked best?
What happened when more weight (pennies) were added?
